Washington DC--Today, Rep. Duncan Hunter re-iterated opposition to the transfer of illegal immigrants to San Diego and Riverside Counties.  The transfers are occurring at the direction of the Department of Homeland Security in light of increased numbers of migrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border and illegally entering the U.S.
"The surge in illegal immigrants is the result of a failure in enforcement and underscores the Administration's lack of commitment to securing the international land border," said Rep. Hunter.
"Border states and regions, including our own, are already overwhelmed by the challenges associated with illegal immigration and asking communities to do even more will only accentuate the problems that already exist."
Reps. Hunter and Ken Calvert recently sent a letter to the Secretary of Homeland Security, Jeh Johnson, stating their concerns with any plan to move illegal immigrants to Murrieta.  Find the letter here.
