El Cajon -- Congressman Hunter recently delivered testimony to Cleveland National Forest Supervisor, William Metz, reiterating strong opposition to the construction of San Diego Gas and Electric’s (SDG&E) Sunrise Powerlink transmission line between San Diego and Imperial Valley.

SDG&E cannot begin construction until it receives U.S. Forest Service approval to proceed over a 19-mile stretch of land within the Cleveland National Forest.  After Supervisor Metz determined more information was needed to make a decision, a public comment period was initiated to learn more about the proposed transmission line’s impact on the local community and forest.

The testimony of Congressman Hunter -- available here -- was submitted under the public comment period.
