Washington D.C.—Congressman Duncan Hunter made the following statement after an address from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to a joint meeting of Congress:
“Prime Minister Netanyahu’s address was passionate and unifying. Our nation’s relationship with Israel is essential to achieving a more peaceful Middle East and signaling to the rest of the word that our commitment to freedom and stability is unbreakable.
“Any call for Israel to return to its 1967 borders undermines decades of sacrifice on the part of the Israeli people. It’s unreasonable to expect—or even ask that Israel turn over land that has shaped its borders for more than forty years.
“Israel’s right to exist or protect itself should be non-negotiable. Together as a nation, we must remain steadfast in our commitment to stand alongside the strongest democracy in the Middle East.”
